Board and Train Journeys

Dogs With Jag provides premium Board & Train dog training in Austin, TX, built on structure, accountability, and real-world results. All dogs stay on-site under Jagger’s direct care in a fully air-conditioned, camera-monitored, at-home training facility with intentionally limited capacity - only four dogs at a time - so every dog receives focused, consistent handling.

Unlike traditional kennel-style programs, daily in-home training is included to ensure obedience happens where dogs actually live. Dogs are trained in real-world, public environments to create reliable behavior outside of controlled settings. Dogs With Jag delivers a level of consistency and follow-through that high-volume dog training facilities can’t match.

The Journey Starts here!

What The Pups Learn

All dogs who go through a Board and Train Journey with Dogs With Jag will receive a foundation of the following commands. The longer the Journey Length, the more advanced the obedience becomes! Everything can be tailored to fit you and your dog’s personal lifestyle.

  • The Basics:

    • Sit, Down, Stay, Place, Heel, Loose Leash Walking, Leave It, Door Thresholds, Impulse Control, People Greetings, Socialization, Recall.

  • In-Home Behaviors:

    • Off, The Art of Being Bored, “Go On”, Tethering, Potty Training (upon request), No Barking, Chewing Furniture.

  • Real-World Behaviors:

    • Socialization, People Greetings, Dog Meetings, Obedience around distractions - loud noises, playgrounds, parks, large crowds.

Program Structure

All Board & Train Journeys are structured to generate the best possible results for all dogs. Routine is key: each dog transitions between play, training, and rest every day. Our mornings consist of doggy playtime in the yard, followed by neighborhood walks. Afternoons are filled with one-on-one training sessions focused on your dog’s specific needs. Evenings are our favorite - sunset walks, patio dinners, and couch cuddle sessions - only if your dog is allowed on the furniture, of course!

Our #1 goal is to ensure you and your dog leave Dogs With Jag feeling confident, obedient, and prepared for any adventure that lies ahead!

What’s Included

During your dog’s Journey, you will receive weekly progress updates and lots of cute pictures.

  • On a bi-weekly basis, you will be provided with an in-depth video explaining your dog’s new skills and how you can reinforce them. I highly recommend using these videos as a reference when you’re diving in to learn how to work with your dog at home!

  • Each Journey will conclude a 2 hour lesson to show off your dog’s skills, teach you how to perform them, and answer any and all questions you have!

  • Post-Journey lessons are provided to ensure that the transition back home is going smoothly. These lessons can be at your home or in a public setting of your choosing!

Journey Lengths

Our various Journey Lengths are designed to accommodate all dogs, behaviors, and desired obedience levels!

  • 2-Week: Ideal for dogs in their prime-learning phase. Your pup will receive a solid foundation for on-leash obedience, which is essential to a long-term good pup.

  • 4-week: Designed for dogs with any type of behavior modification or owners looking for that “take me anywhere” dog. This Journey establishes on-leash obedience skills + socialization in public settings.

  • 6-Week: Want an off-leash dog? This is the Journey for you! This extended stay allows for advanced obedience skills and E-Collar training. You and your pup will feel confident to explore wherever your heart’s desire!

    • Dog must be evaluated and approved by Jagger.

Special Situations

All dogs have different needs, so these specialized add-on offerings are available to meet you where you need us most.

Potty Training: 4-Week Minimum.

  • Potty training… It’s tough! Luckily for you, I have it down to a science. Other board and train programs simply cannot offer potty training because it’s impossible to do in a standard kennel environment. Any dog requiring potty training stays inside our home 24/7.

    • Your dog will receive obedience training in tandem with potty training.

    • Only ONE potty training slot is available each month, so be sure to book in advance!

A day in the journey

Dogs With Jag's personal in home board and train program

First things first, dogs go out to potty!

Then, we’re cooking breakfast on the Blackstone. All dogs are tethered to place beds waiting to eat. Yes, I’m absolutely going to give them some! It’s a misconception not to give your dog “people food”. It’s the perfect time to teach your dog to be away from you as we reward by throwing the food to them - NOT LETTING THEM COME TO US.

7:00 AM

Doggy play time!

When a new dog arrives, we take time to find them play group based on their specific needs, size, and temperament. Play time is SO important for building confidence and allowing dogs to be dogs!

8:00 AM

First training session of the day.

This session is centered around a Recall & Engagement neighborhood walk. Exposure to sights and sounds outside of the home are a high priority. These walks build the foundation for a dog who ignores the distractions & focuses solely on the owner.

9:00 AM

Toy (or treat) time with Jag!

This time is spent testing out various toys, treats, and games. Just like us, dogs don’t work for free, so it’s important I determine exactly how to keep each dog engaged in the long-term. Developing toy or food drive (aka - motivation tools) helps in all aspects of training as we move along in the journey.

11:00 AM

Dogs begin in-home rotations.

All dogs are rotated inside my personal home every day. We work on correcting negative behaviors, such as sprinting out doors, chewing furniture, and counter surfing. We will establish the art of being bored and other positive behaviors. This includes going to and staying on a dog bed, relaxed movements (no zooming room to room), controlled behavior when guests enter the home, and so much more.

12:30 PM

Chill Time/Nap time

Public excursions!

In public settings, we focus on impulse control, people greetings, and obedience around distractions. Parks, coffee shops, restaurant patios, and dog-friendly retail stores, anywhere a pup can go, we’re going!

3:30 PM

Dinner and sunset play time.

All pups eat dinner around 5:00, and then they are rotated back into their play groups. After their play time, we rotate each dog back into the home to spend the evening reinforcing training and relaxing after their long day.

6:30 PM

Time for bed.

We’ll begin the last potty break of the night. All dogs will get a Kong toy filled with frozen blueberries & yogurt, peanut butter & banana, or pumpkin & chicken broth. Healthy pup is a happy pup!
