Dog handling experience

I’ve been fortunate enough to train at a high level, with a foundation in Family Personal Protection Dogs (PPD). I previously operated Rising S K9 in East Texas, where I trained family protection dogs for real-world scenarios including home invasion, carjacking, gunpoint encounters, and simulated kidnapping situations. This work demands precision, control, and judgment.

These were not police or military dogs, although, I have deep respect for military and law-enforcement handlers. Their dogs are trained for a different mission than the dogs I trained. Family PPD work requires neutrality and the ability to disengage completely. I developed family dogs with a reliable off switch, which is the most important trait a family protection dog can have. My previous PPD experience directed my attention to quality over quantity and creating dogs that can think clearly under pressure.

Since then, I’ve been serving ATX dog owners with my obedience training services. I love to make an impact in every day people’s lives - this is where my training skills truly shine!

Film & Television Work

After relocating to Austin, my work expanded into film and television as a professional animal trainer and handler.

Film work demands dogs that are neutral, controllable, and reliable in high-pressure environments. Film and TV sets are full of crowds, large equipment, loud noises, and tight timelines. All of these scenarios require clear communication, perfect timing, and strong relationships with dogs that can perform when needed and relax when they should.

These same principles apply to all the dogs I train. The best part for you is that graduates of my 4 or 6-week Board and Train Journeys are eligible to be submitted for any future film or TV work!

• Fear the Walking Dead: Primary handler for the character Rufus, appearing in the majority of his Season 3 episodes.

• Bad Thoughts: Dog training and on-set handling

• Worked alongside Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson on full-season productions where the dog is one of main characters. Show name to be announced soon!

• National commercial work including College GameDay, USAA, and other major brands.
